Plan Your Own Retreat
We are very excited that you are considering Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly as your retreat site. Please review the list below to assist you in planning for your special time at the 'Shore.
TEN EASY STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL LAKESHORE RETREAT
1. Determine the type of lodging - dorm cabins, Calhoun & Hopper lodges, Camp Hope, Wilderness, Tent & Trailer- (click here for lodging link) and how many nights and meals you are planning. Your per person charge is based on this information. Click here to see 2011 Retreat Rates for an advance idea of the cost of your retreat.
2. Check calendar for possible retreat dates. Click here for Online calendar. Choose two or three possible dates, contact Lakeshore 731-584-6102 and ask for Retreat Registrar or email office@lakeshoreuma.com for possible retreat openings.
3. Challenge Course opportunities, tree climbing or nature programming, as well as a swim session at the Water Recreation Center (from Memorial Day to Labor Day) will also be scheduled at this initial contact. Troy Taylor, Program Director, will assist with plans for any Challenge Course, tree climbing or nature programming. Click here for Challenge Course rates. Swim sessions may be scheduled by the Retreat Registrar. Click here for information regarding the Water Recreation Center.
4. Within 10 days after a definite date is penciled in on the camp calendar, click here to print the Reservation and Retreat Agreement sheet. Complete the required information and mail with a check for 25% of the total projected cost of the retreat or fax (731-584-2267) the sheets along with credit card information for the deposit. If you decide to make other arrangements for your retreat, please notify the camp office so your name can be removed from the calendar. After receipt of the deposit, your date is secure. Unless the deposit is paid, your date is considered tentative and Lakeshore has the right to schedule another group in the space you have requested.
5. Click here to print and become familiar with the camp policies , click here for general information and click here for the cancellation policy.
6. Prepare a schedule for your retreat based on the following meal times: breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m.; lunch at 12:00 noon; dinner at 5:30 p.m. You will be assigned a meeting room for group sessions. Click here to check out other activities that will be available to your group at no cost.
7. Two weeks before your confirmed date, contact the Retreat Registrar to submit information regarding any audio-visual needs, your meeting room and set up, date of arrival and departure and finalize lodging arrangement. If you are planning a bonfire, it would be scheduled at this point. Be prepared to fax or email the camp a copy of your proposed schedule.
8. On the Monday before you arrive at Lakeshore, call or email the Retreat Registrar to give her the exact numbers for your event. The numbers that you submit will be used for producing the invoice for the retreat. Also be prepared to submit a list with names and addresses of each individual attending. This may be done by email, fax or paper when you arrive. If you are planning a mid-week retreat, the numbers will need to be submitted at least 10 days before your scheduled arrival. An invoice will be produced based on these numbers and sent to you before you arrive. Adjustments to the final balance will be made as needed.
9. Please issue one check payable to Lakeshore UMA or pay the balance due by Visa or MasterCard when you arrive at the camp.
10. A member of the staff at Lakeshore will be awaiting your arrival and help you get situated in your meeting room and cabins. Keys will be provided that allow you access to the canteen, First Aid Cabinet, recreation and waterfront storage areas.
