Let Lakeshore Plan Your Retreat

We can put your retreat together for you. Our Program Director, Troy Taylor, has well over 10 years of program planning experience for children, youth, and adults. Troy has compiled a library of spiritual retreats over the years, and he loves to develop new themes based on what each group wants. We can plan worship, devotions, theme sessions, games, activities, and other adventures for your group, and even work out the schedule for the weekend. We can do as much or as little as you need. For Lakeshore to plan a weekend retreat, the cost is only $15 per person with a $400 minimum. Just call 731-584-6102 and ask to speak with Troy.

Here is a list of retreats that have already been planned:

-Bonding Retreat: Is your group simply looking for an experience to bring everyone closer together? With this retreat, we will look at getting to know each other better and growing as a group. There is a wealth of activities that can help us accomplish this, including team building exercises, art projects, adventure activities, and good old fashioned socializing.

-Outdoor Adventure: If your group is looking to step out of their comfort zone, we can give you an adventure together. We can incorporate hikes, camping, canoeing, treeclimbing, and a host of other activities. We'll tailor it to your comfort level and give your group an experience to remember for a long time.

-Why Church?: This retreat examines why church is an important part of any Christian's spiritual walk. You can certainly be spiritual without church, and it is easy to get disillusioned with church. But, what are the benefits? What about church makes our faith deeper, and what is our specific place in church? We will try to understand better what church's place is in our lives and what our place is in church.

-Your Mission, if you chose to accept it: This retreat looks at our call to missions and helping others in general. We will discuss how easily it is to be distracted from our good intentions and also talk about how you must go in search of missions, rather than waiting for them to fall into your lap from the everyday to the huge, life-changing missions.

- Survival: Getting by with God: This retreat will look at how God helps us to survive, whether it be the big tragedies of life or just our normal, daily lives. In these sessions, there will be a chance to ponder and discuss the nature of God. We'll talk about relying on God during the times he is obviously needed and the times that we feel like we are alright without him.

-Heaven on Earth: This retreat will ask how we can make this place and this time on earth more like Heaven. We won't spend time theorizing on what heaven actually is or how you get there, we will just focus on how we can bring more Godly experiences into our daily lives.

-Tending God's Garden: This retreat compares our life in the church to a garden. We look at ways the garden must be cultivated, how to harvest the work of our hands, and how we take all the good things we produce in the church to market.

-How to live with other Christians: This retreat looks at how we accomplish the sometimes difficult task of being a church. We look at the challenges we face when, even though we believe in the same God, we have very different ways of interpreting those beliefs. We will look at how these differences can be bridged and hope to understand why we need each other.

-What is Worship?: This retreat encourages us to define worship and maybe learn some new definitions. We will discuss what makes worship worship and think about what worship asks from us to be something truly meaningful. We'll look at all the ways worship helps us grow and hope to leave with a deeper appreciation for it.

-Meet Jesus at the Lakeshore: This retreat looks at the role water has played in the Gospels and what it and these scenes have to say to us. We'll explore the calls to discipleship, the miracles witnessed, and the grace that all took place near the water. From these stories, we'll examine how God may be working in our lives in a similar way.

-Disconnecting to Connect: This retreat will look at the things we need to disconnect from more frequently so that we can connect on a deeper level to ourselves, others, the earth, and the God who created it all. We will talk about genuine Sabbath time and how slowing down will refresh us. We will take time to experience this rest, and look at our everyday lives to see how we might adjust them in order to live fuller lives.

-In Love with God: This retreat looks at our long term relationship with God, by comparing it to romance. We'll look at popular versions of romance and talk about our own romances, and while picking out the challenging parts along with the most wonderful parts, we'll compare them to falling and staying in love with God.

-Staying in touch with God: The retreat will look at the ways we are able to communicate with God. We'll talk about the more direct, personal communications like prayer and worship, and then we will talk about more indirect, public forms of communication like our actions. We will look to see how well we communicate with God and what we are saying to him.

-Your idea here________________: We will work with you to put together a retreat based on any idea you have for your group. Most of the retreats we have developed in this list began with a retreat group's idea.
