Backpacking with Lakeshore

We want to help you find something spiritual in the Wilderness. Come away to the woods with only what you need to survive on your back, and you will be amazed by the effects it has on you. Lakeshore is proud to lead backpacking expeditions throughout the year in week-long or retreat form. We take backpackers of all ages and experience levels on adventures of various time frames.

In the tradition of the religious pilgrimage, we believe that setting out with a group is so much more than the destination you reach. What we offer, beyond simply planning and leading a trip, is to connect our experiences to faith, scripture, and adventurers before us as we travel.

Some of our backpacking expeditions stay very close to Lakeshore's main campus, some venture out into the 30 plus miles of trail in Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park right next to the camp, and others go off site to many of Tennessee's beautiful State Parks. We love to teach the ropes to new backpackers all the way up to taking experienced backpackers into the woods to adventure again and get rest for the spirit.

If you have a specific type of trip you would like to take, Lakeshore's Program Director, Troy Taylor loves to put together trips like this. He will be happy to plan your trip for you to any place you'd like to go, all the way down to the supply list. Lakeshore is able to furnish some of the equipment for its backpacking trips, including: tents, cookware, water filters, and more.
